DP World adds 55 electric yard tractors at Busan terminal
DP World deployed 55 electric yard tractors at its Busan terminal, replacing LNG vehicles and covering about 36% of its 154-strong yard tractor fleet.

The story in focus
DP World has deployed 55 electric yard tractors at its Busan terminal in South Korea, replacing LNG-powered vehicles. The new units account for about 36% of the terminal's 154-strong yard tractor fleet and are expected to cut CO2 emissions by roughly 70% per unit compared with the LNG tractors they replace.

- DP World expects about 70% lower CO2 emissions per unit versus LNG tractors.
Fleet transition
DP World said on 16 October 2026 that it had deployed 55 electric yard tractors at its Busan terminal in South Korea. The electric units replace liquefied natural gas-powered vehicles and represent approximately 36% of the terminal's 154-strong yard tractor fleet. The tractors move containers across the terminal.
Emissions and operations
The company expects the electric tractors to reduce CO2 emissions by about 70% per unit compared with the LNG-powered tractors they replace. DP World said the switch also reduces the use and disposal of engine fluids, lowering the risk of leaks. It described quieter operation, smoother acceleration and more consistent performance during frequent stop-and-go movements. With fewer moving parts, the tractors are expected to need less maintenance, supporting equipment availability.
Policy context
DP World Busan participates in South Korea's Emissions Trading Scheme. The company said the deployment supports its emissions-reduction efforts and aligns with the country's low-carbon logistics and greener port ambitions. Anders Dømmestrup, Chief Operating Officer, Ports & Terminals, Asia Pacific at DP World APAC, called the deployment an important milestone. DP World Busan plans to expand electric equipment use as part of longer-term emissions reduction efforts. The company cited similar electrification initiatives at the Port of Brisbane in Australia, Manila South Harbour in the Philippines and Laem Chabang International Terminal in Thailand.
How much of DP World's Busan yard tractor fleet is now electric?
The 55 electric yard tractors represent about 36% of the terminal's 154-strong yard tractor fleet, according to DP World.
